What DMcollect is

DMcollect (dmcollect.it) is a personal content vault for Instagram. You send posts, reels, and carousels to @dmcollect.it via Instagram DM, and we save them to your private dashboard where you can browse, search, organise into collections, and ask questions about them using AI. By using DMcollect you agree to these terms.

Your account

You sign in with Google via Clerk. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. To link your Instagram account you will receive a one-time claim code (valid 30 minutes) — do not share it. You may connect multiple Instagram accounts to one DMcollect account; each must be individually claimed.

Your content

You retain all rights to your own content. By saving a post through DMcollect you grant us a limited licence to store, display, and process that content solely to provide the service to you. We do not claim ownership of anything you save.

You may only save content you are entitled to collect. Do not use DMcollect to store content that infringes third-party intellectual property, is illegal, or violates Instagram's Terms of Use.

AI processing

DMcollect automatically enriches your saved posts using AI: generating summaries, tags, and transcripts, and powering the chat Q&A feature. To do this, content (captions, images, video audio) is sent to third-party AI providers including Anthropic (Claude) via OpenRouter and AssemblyAI for transcription.

AI-generated output — summaries, transcripts, tags — may contain errors and is provided for convenience only. We make no warranty about its accuracy.

Google Drive integration

If you connect Google Drive, we store your OAuth tokens in order to upload export archives to a “DMCollect” folder in your Drive. You can revoke this access at any time from your account settings, which deletes your stored tokens.

Acceptable use

• Do not flood or abuse the @dmcollect.it Instagram account.
• Do not attempt to access another user's data or circumvent the claim-code system.
• Do not use DMcollect to store or distribute illegal content of any kind.
• Do not use the service in a way that degrades it for other users.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without notice.

Service availability & limitations

DMcollect is currently free to use. We make no uptime guarantees. The service depends on Instagram's API; if Meta restricts or changes that API, features may be degraded or unavailable without warning. Saved media files reflect the state of the original post at the time of saving — if the creator later deletes the post, our copy may become the only remaining version.

We reserve the right to modify, limit, or discontinue features at any time. If we ever introduce paid plans, existing free-tier users will be given reasonable notice before any feature access changes.

Data, privacy & deletion

How we collect and use your data is described in our Privacy Policy. You can export all your data at any time from your account settings. To delete your account and all associated data, visit dmcollect.it/data-deletion or email hello@dmcollect.it. Deletion is completed within 30 days.

Disclaimer & limitation of liability

DMcollect is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for loss of content, service interruptions, AI inaccuracies, or issues caused by third-party providers (Instagram, Google, Anthropic, AssemblyAI, Convex, Clerk, Vercel). Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to zero, as the service is provided free of charge.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of DMcollect after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be noted by updating the date above.
